New Homeowners: Do You Own Your Propane Tank?

own or lease propane tank central maine

If you have recently purchased a propane-powered home here in central Maine, but haven’t gotten around yet to scheduling a propane delivery, you may be in for a surprise when it comes time to place your first order of propane gas.

Before you call us – or any other propane supplier in the area – the first question you have to ask yourself is do you actually own your propane tank?

You might think to yourself, “Of course I own the tank. I bought the house!” But that’s not the way it works with propane. If the propane tank on your property was leased by your home’s previous owners, that lease carries over to you. In other words, the propane supplier owns the tank, and no company other than that supplier can fill it (this is standard practice in the industry; if you find a propane company willing to fill someone else’s tank without proof of ownership, we strongly recommend that you avoid doing business with them).

How to know if you own your propane tank or if it is leased:

Scheduling a propane delivery

Once you provide propane tank ownership documents, or we have confirmed that we are your propane gas provider, we will be able to schedule your first propane delivery; as always, you’ll get a FREE pressure and leak test with your first delivery– followed by many years of reliable propane deliveries in Androscoggin County!
